Teacher of Girls PE

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed teacher of Girls’ PE to work within a highly successful and active department of eight PE teachers. We are looking for a candidate who combines a passion for high quality extra-curricular sport with outstanding provision for academic PE lessons. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to teach the full ability and age range at KS3, KS4, GCSE and A level or BTEC Sport. The school offers an extensive extra-curricular programme which includes girls’ winter and summer sports. We are looking for someone who will be able to continue with the development of the hockey teams as well as have experience in teaching A level PE.

The successful applicant will be joining a forward-thinking department which consistently provides a stimulating curriculum that enables all pupils to achieve their potential. Curriculum Area Physical Education

The PE department at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College strives to promote physical well-being and we believe that young people should develop physical skills and achieve their highest standard in both individual and team activities. We encourage them to enjoy both competitive and recreational sport so that they learn the value of regular physical exercise, healthy living and team membership as part of a preparation for life.

The school has a 6 badminton court sportshall, four outdoor netball courts, four tennis courts, an astro turf for both hockey and football, a grass athletics field and a swimming pool.

Years 7, 8 and 9 have 4 hours of teaching per fortnight, and years 10 and 11 three hours of core PE. GCSE PE groups follow the AQA specification and have 5 hours of teaching a fortnight, normally split in to 3 hours of theory and 2 hours of practical.

The major games are currently football, hockey, netball, volleyball and athletics but we are also very successful in cross country and rounders. Sandbach High School teams enjoy a fine reputation and teams from all age groups represent the school in inter school fixtures, county, regional and national competitions and have and outstanding record of achievement at these levels. There are also opportunities for cricket, gymnastics, trampolining and swimming. Handball will be introduced this coming September.

A2 Physical Education is offered in the Sixth Form College following the OCR specification and there will be an opportunity for a suitably qualified applicant to be involved in this. As well as A2 we offer BTEC Sport Level 3 following the edexcel specification.

There are eight full time staff and the School Games Organiser for the Sandbach School Sports Partnership at Sandbach High School. The person appointed would share in the teaching of gymnastics, netball, hockey, athletics, rounders, volleyball, basketball, football, rugby, cricket, swimming, badminton, handball and health related fitness.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to take some responsibility for school teams, especially the hockey teams. Applicants with an interest in hockey would be ideal but other specialists would be considered.

Most staff at Sandbach High School are form tutors where pastoral work, is an important addition to the teaching of an academic subject.

The successful applicant will be expected to assist with the extensive extra curricular activities within the department and within the school. The expectation is that the post holder will play a full part in the afterschool and weekend fixtures programme.

Salary will be determined according to LES pay scales.

Learning Support Assistant

37 hours/week

We are looking for someone who has experience of working in a Learning Support Department within a school.  The person appointed will be a caring, committed and confident professional.  Their role will be to support the learning that the young people they are supporting continue to make progress.

The successful candidate will be expected to hold a Level 3 or equivalent qualification.  Consideration will also be given to candidates who have experience of working within a Learning Support environment.  The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced disclosure.

Property Maintenance Technician Required as soon as possible

37 hours/week 44 weeks/year split over two sites in Sandbach & Crewe

If you are good at DIY and able to carry out general repairs and maintenance we would love to hear from you.

We are looking to appoint someone to help our maintenance team carry out general repairs and maintenance across two schools. Hours can be flexible and negotiated with the successful candidate.

Duties would include:

  • Carrying out minor repairs and improvements across the sites including general maintenance that do not require a specialised technician
  • Painting and decorating
  • Joinery – first line maintenance of fixtures and fittings
  • Plumbing – un-blocking sinks, toilets and waste pipes; repair leaky taps.
  • Complete simple projects such as tiling, install flooring, upkeep and maintenance of interior and exterior of the buildings.
  • To support the team in undertaking porterage tasks as required including setting up/ clearing and moving furniture

The successful candidate will be expected to observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions are adhered to.

Formal qualifications are not required but we are looking for someone who can work as part of a team. Our technician would be proactive in making a safe, professional and aesthetic environment for our students.
