Open events are held during the Summer and Autumn terms for prospective Year 7 students and their parents. This gives an opportunity for everyone to see our school and meet staff. All students who are offered places are then invited to spend two days in school shortly before they join us in September. This helps them to feel comfortable in their new surroundings and to get to know each other and their teachers.
Quite often new students arrive during the course of a school year. The parents of these students, and the students themselves, are welcomed, interviewed and shown round the school by a senior member of staff who is responsible for making all necessary arrangements for admission. These students are supported to ensure a smooth transition and positive start.
Year 7 – September 2019
Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College recognises that the transition from primary to secondary school is important in the lives of children and their families.
We offer a full programme of transition activities, which enables students to get used to their new environment and develop new friendships. In addition, we maintain close links with primary schools in the surrounding area. Each student joining us in September will be visited by a member of staff during the summer term, where the aim is to put students at ease and prepare them for a smooth transition.
We have recently posted out transition information addressed to applicants who have accepted an offer of a school place at their address at the time of the application, copies of which are available below. If, in due course, you are concerned that you have not received this information or if you have changed address since your initial application, please contact Miss C Smith, Admissions Officer – email@example.com.
Please note that a ‘Welcome Booklet’ will be given out to all Year 6 students when Miss Whalley visits your daughter’s primary school during May or June.
Academies such as ours act as their own admission authority, applying their own admission criteria as detailed in the policies below. However, all parents will only have to fill in one application form and will receive their offer from the LA in whose area they live. The Common Application Form (CAF) must be used by all Cheshire parents applying for a school place, whether inside or outside Cheshire.
If you require any further information on admissions, please contact Miss C Smith, Admissions Officer – firstname.lastname@example.org.
