Applications for Year 7 – September 2021
We are pleased to announce we are now taking bookings for Tours of the School with prospective families.
To book a tour please contact Miss Whalley by email on AWhalley@sandbachhigh.co.uk
Parents/Carers resident in Cheshire East with children transferring to secondary education in September 2021 can apply online for a school place from 1 September 2020 at https://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/schools/admissions/start-school-september.aspx
The ‘How to Apply for School Places’ and ‘Secondary Schools’ information booklets are also available on the Cheshire East website. The benefit of applying online is that Parents/Carers will be able to view the decision regarding their application on the published offer date of 1 March 2021, instead of waiting for an offer letter to be received in the post. If you do not have access to the internet or would like support in applying online, please contact the Admissions Helpline on 0300 123 5012.
Parents/Carers must submit their application to Cheshire East Council by the published closing date of 31 October 2020 and are encouraged to express three school preferences ranked in order of priority. Applications received after this date may be disadvantaged.
There will be the opportunity to appeal against the decision if a place at the preferred school is not offered. See appeals section below.
If you do not live in the Cheshire East local authority and would like to apply for a place at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College, you must apply on your home local authority’s application form and include the name of the school in preference order on your application form. Your home local authority will then exchange information with Cheshire East Council to ensure your preference is considered.

Admissions and Virtual Open Event September 2020
Open events are held during the Summer and Autumn terms for prospective Year 7 students and their parents. Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College recognises that the transition from primary to secondary school is important in the lives of children and their families.
Due to the unprecedented nature of the circumstances in which we currently find ourselves, we have a full programme of virtual resources and activities which will allow our families to make an informed decision about which secondary school to choose for their child. These resources are available on our YouTube Channel ‘Sandbach High School Virtual Open Event’. Here you will find a talk from our head teacher, a virtual tour and much more.
Quite often new students arrive during the course of a school year. The parents of these students, and the students themselves, are welcomed, interviewed and shown round the school by a senior member of staff who is responsible for making all necessary arrangements for admission. These students are supported to ensure a smooth transition and positive start.
Transition from Primary School to Sandbach High School
Transition from primary to secondary school is a huge part of any child’s life and we recognise this. We provide a comprehensive programme of transition activities, including a four day transition visit, where the students follow a normal school timetable and participate in many activities to prepare them for life at our school, making friends and building confidence. We also provide a huge array of resources, from reading material, workshops for pupils and parents and information videos. Below you will see links to some resources provided for the 2020 Intake.

Academies such as ours act as their own admission authority, applying their own admission criteria as detailed in the policies below. However, all parents will only have to fill in one application form and will receive their offer from the LA in whose area they live. The Common Application Form (CAF) must be used by all Cheshire parents applying for a school place, whether inside or outside Cheshire.
If you require any further information on admissions, please contact Miss C Smith, Admissions Officer – firstname.lastname@example.org.
