Open events are held during the Summer and Autumn terms for prospective Year 7 students and their parents. This gives an opportunity for everyone to see our school and meet staff. All students who are offered places are then invited to spend two days in school shortly before they join us in September. This helps them to feel comfortable in their new surroundings and to get to know each other and their teachers.

Quite often new students arrive during the course of a school year. The parents of these students, and the students themselves, are welcomed, interviewed and shown round the school by a senior member of staff who is responsible for making all necessary arrangements for admission. These students are supported to ensure a smooth transition and positive start.

Applications for Year 7 – September 2020

Parents resident in Cheshire East with children transferring to secondary education in September 2020 can apply online for a school place from 1 September 2019 at The ‘How to Apply for School Places’ and ‘Secondary Schools’ information booklets are also available on the Cheshire East website.  The benefit of applying online is that parents will be able to view the decision regarding their application on the published offer date of 1 March 2020, instead of waiting for an offer letter to be received in the post.  If you do not have access to the internet or would like support in applying online, please contact the Admissions Helpline on 0300 123 5012.

Parents must submit their application to Cheshire East Council by the published closing date of 31 October 2019 and are encouraged to express three school preferences ranked in order of priority.  Applications received after this date may be disadvantaged.

There will be the opportunity to appeal against the decision if a place at the preferred school is not offered.

If you do not live in the Cheshire East local authority and would like to apply for a place at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College, you must apply on your home local authority’s application form and include the name of the school in preference order on your application form.  Your home local authority will then exchange information with Cheshire East Council to ensure your preference is considered.

Admissions Policies

Academies such as ours act as their own admission authority, applying their own admission criteria as detailed in the policies below. However, all parents will only have to fill in one application form and will receive their offer from the LA in whose area they live. The Common Application Form (CAF) must be used by all Cheshire parents applying for a school place, whether inside or outside Cheshire.
