Year 7 – September 2020
Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College recognises that the transition from primary to secondary school is important in the lives of children and their families.
Due to the unprecedented nature of the circumstances in which we currently find ourselves, we aim to have a full programme of virtual resources and activities. Some of these will be distributed via your daughter’s primary school or, in some cases, posted to your home address. Information will be communicated to parents/carers via email regularly and, where appropriate, posted below.
For any queries, please contact Miss C Smith, Admissions Officer – firstname.lastname@example.org
As promised in my previous correspondence here are our latest instalments for you all to watch.

Final Challenge, Star Challenge – 20/7/20
I hope you and your families are well and that the students enjoyed the challenge set last week.
I have read some fantastic comments on both the YouTube video and on the Instagram post.
Here is a video for Challenge Number 4, the Final Summer Challenge
As mentioned in the video, I have attached a template for the students to use.
I would like the students to draw or take six pictures, showing six things that they have done over the Summer.
I would like them to bring this in with them on the first day of School in September.
I am looking forward to seeing how they get on with this.
Take care and have a good week.
I hope the students have a fantastic Summer, we’re excited to meet them!
Mr. Kyle Fairclough
Challenge number 3, Star Challenge:
Challenge number 2, Balloon Challenge
Information video for parents of Yr 6 pupils who will be joining us in September on YouTube click here
Open events are held during the Summer and Autumn terms for prospective Year 7 students and their parents. This gives an opportunity for everyone to see our school and meet staff. All students who are offered places are then invited to spend two days in school shortly before they join us in September. This helps them to feel comfortable in their new surroundings and to get to know each other and their teachers.
Quite often new students arrive during the course of a school year. The parents of these students, and the students themselves, are welcomed, interviewed and shown round the school by a senior member of staff who is responsible for making all necessary arrangements for admission. These students are supported to ensure a smooth transition and positive start.
Academies such as ours act as their own admission authority, applying their own admission criteria as detailed in the policies below. However, all parents will only have to fill in one application form and will receive their offer from the LA in whose area they live. The Common Application Form (CAF) must be used by all Cheshire parents applying for a school place, whether inside or outside Cheshire.
If you require any further information on admissions, please contact Miss C Smith, Admissions Officer – email@example.com.
